This
Infinite Campus student database system will help us share information about

Cologne Academy by streamlining some of our procedures. The Parent Portal
currently provides parents/guardians with online access to their child’s
contact information, schedule, progress reports and report cards.
To
register for the Parent Portal, please follow the directions below.
DIRECTIONS
TO REGISTER FOR THE PARENT PORTAL
Visit
www.cologneacademy.org and click on Parent Portal.
Please read the Acceptable Use Guidelines, complete the questions at the bottom
of the page, and press SEND.
Within
a day or two of receipt, the Cologne Academy office will provide you (via hard
copy) with a 32-digit Activation Key with further instructions.
Since
this is a new program for all, please be patient as we fix the glitches as they
arise. All report cards will be accessed on the portal and will not be

PAVE UPDATES
PAVE
UPDATES - 05-10-12
Schwan's
order deadline is this Friday!!
Have you
gotten all the orders you can to support this fundraiser? Remember to tell
potential customers about the Gift Certificate option. This can be used as
payment to any route driver anywhere in the US. The school will get the credit
for those sales just like product sales. No money is due at the time of order.
Simply collect orders now, the customer should be given the form telling them
date, time and place of pickup and they pay for it when they pick it up from
the Schwan's trucks on the day of Spring Fling. There will also be products
available for sale from those trucks that day. This fundraiser could
potentially raise an additional $3000 toward completing the playground. Please
consider supporting PAVE's efforts to complete this project by getting out
there for those last minute sales!!
URGENT NEED FOR
SPRING FLING
We have
been unable to find people from local salons to provide Crazy Hair booth this year.
If there are any adults who could donate 1-1/2 hours of their time between
11:00 a.m & 2:00 p.m. on May 19th, please contact PAVE@cologneacademy.org as soon as
possible. At this point, if we cannot find 2 to 4 volunteers this will
not be available at Spring Fling this year. PAVE provides the supplies.

Offering Incentive to All Middle School Students
In an
effort to get Middle Schoolers to volunteer two hours of time each to Spring
Fling this year, we are offering the class(es) with the largest percentage of
volunteers a Pizza Party on a date chosen by their teacher. We really need
this age group of students to volunteer their time in the games area. They
can choose to volunteer with a friend. Please encourage you students to support
the Spring Fling by volunteering.
Volunteering
as a Family at Spring Fling
While the
volunteer schedule is filling up more and more, there are still lots of open
spaces for volunteers of all ages. If you have not chosen to sign up to
volunteer, please consider doing so by Friday, May 11th. Beginning Monday, May
14th your Room Parents will be calling their families in an effort to fill the
sign up. Please try to schedule your family before they have to make those calls.
This event is a little more than a week away and we are really counting on the
school families to pull together to make this a huge success. Sign up today by clicking

May 7-11
TWO HOUR LATE START ON WEDNESDAY, May 9th!
This Week's Academics
MUR -This week we will be reading about Johnny Appleseed which ties into our Wordly Wise lesson 16 words. Students will also be working on the skills that we have been working on all year; retelling, sequencing, character traits and emotions, and verbal and written comprehension.
this week;s spelling words are superlatives which are words that end in -est and are comparing two or more things.
Science - Currently we are learning about electricity. We will focus our learning on what creates static electricity and do some experiments with balloons, learn about open and closed circuits, experiment with these circuits using batteries, wire and light bulbs, and also learn about electromagnets. There will be no formal test with this unit, but we will take an in class quiz in groups.
MUM -This week we will be taking the second round of MCAs on Wednesday and Thursday. Please make sure that your child gets plenty of sleep and a good breakfast and lunch. Since this year students are allowed to take the MCA math assessment twice, the student's higher score is what will be recorded by the state.Good luck!
NO BASIC FACTS HOMEWORK THIS WEEK DUE TO TESTING!
