In MUR...
This week we will be reading out of our Jr. Great Books. The story is called "All Summer in a Day." We will work with this story the majority of the week. We
will also continue working in our Analytical Grammar packets focusing on
prepositional phrases this week.
Please check Infinite Campus grades regularly at home so you can keep up with how your child is doing in class.
In MUM...
This week we have moved into or geometry unit and are working on measuring angles using a protractor. We will also work on turns and right angles, and also work with input and output tables. We are gearing up for our next interim assessment that will take place in a few weeks!
Students will receive math homework on Monday that is due by Friday.
This packet will contain a few basic fact worksheets and will also
contain a few pages on the topic that we are working on during the week.
There may also be homework that comes home during the week, of in class
work is not finished in class. This work will be due the following day.

In Writing...
This week we are working on a creative writing piece where students are
looking at a picture and creating a story about the picture.
We will also be spending 1-2 days per week in the lab working on our
typing skills. The free website that we will use is

In History...
I am currently teaching the Dynasties of China unit to Mrs.Slavik's class. The quiz is coming up next week. We will be filling out a study guide in class and also doing at least one day of review as a whole class.
In Literature Circles...
We are currently reading the book Hatchet as a class and reviewing the rules of literature circles whole group.
We are going to be starting to do literature circles along with guided reading this week. The students who have not graduated out of the STEP program will be working in small groups with me to work on skills including retell, comprehension both written and oral, spelling, and fluency.
What we are reading for read aloud...
We just finished the book The Underneath and the kids loved it! Stay
tuned for our next read aloud book!We started the story today, and the
students are already very excited to keep reading!

This Tuesday we will wrap up our unit on the dynasties of China. Students have a study guide filled out and can take their books home to study. We will be creating some Chinese silk paintings tomorrow in class and have the quiz on Tuesday.
Mrs.Slavik's students will start the China unit on Thursday!
