February 3-7
In MUR...
This week we will continue working on our science fiction unit by reading the novel Among the Hidden by Margaret Peterson Haddix. We will be focusing on character traits, feelings and attitudes, how setting affects the main character, tracking plot, and touching on the big themes in the book.
The spelling homework is due this Friday, February 7th.
In MUM...
This week we will be focusing on finding the area of composite figures. We will also spend some time reviewing for the interim, and taking the second round of the practice MCA test.
The homework packet is due this Friday, February 7th.
In History...
This week my homeroom is starting the American Revolution unit. It is a longer unit so there will be an at home project that will accompany what we are doing in class. I do not have a due date yet, but it will be in the next three weeks.
In Writing...
This week we will finish our animal research papers and work on writing topic sentences.

This week we will continue reading about the Dynasties of China and will wrap up the unit on Friday with the test which covers all ten chapters.

Jan. 20-24
Happy MLK day! Today we will spend some time talking about Martin Luther King and the civil rights movement to remember how important this period of time was in the history of the United States.
This Friday is an early release day. School lets out at 1:00.
Next Friday is the OSA for January. The OSA starts at 2:50 in the gym at the Community Center.
In MUR...
This week we will continue to work on our test taking unit along with taking the second reading interim of the school year.
In MUM...
This week we will be working on properties of squares and rectangles along with reviewing how to measure angles up to 180 degrees. We will also continue to review skills and concepts that we have learned throughout the year as we come closer to taking the 3rd math interim of the school year (Feb. 11-12).
In History...
This week my homeroom is switching to Mrs. Slavik for the Human Body unit in science. They will be learning all about the heart and lungs.
Mrs. Slavik's class will be with me for the next few weeks learning all about the Dynasties of China.

This week we will be continuing to work on our test taking unit. We will work with several strategies that will help improve students test taking abilities.
There is spelling homework this week which is due Friday the 17th.
In MUM...
This week we will be working on classifying lines as perpendicular or parallel and continuing to use a protractor to measure acute and obtuse angles.
Please continue to work with your child on their basic facts at home. They are improving every day here at school, I am so pleased!
In History...
My homeroom class will wrap up the Dynasties of China Unit this Thursday and then we will finish up on Friday by doing some silk paintings.
In Writing...
This week we are starting to write research papers on the students favorite animals. This will take a few weeks to complete and will be done at school.
