November 28-December 2

This Week's Academics
MUR - This week we will be reading the story "The Gold Coin". We will really be working on retelling the story this week, which is getting a lot better. We will also work on comparing characters within the story. Along with the story we will work out of our Wordly Wise books which focus on vocabulary and also out of our Analytical Grammar books where we have already started working with nouns, proper nouns,  adjectives, articles, and pronouns, and prepositions.
Spelling homework is due Friday.
This week's spelling words are homographs. these are words that are spelled the same but have different pronunciations.

MUM - This week we will continue to work with decimals, specifically rounding decimals to the whole number and the tenths place. We will also start to work on converting decimals to fractions and vise versa.

History - Today we are wrapping up our Europe in the Middle Ages unit with the final test, and also we will finish the rest of the presentations.

Science - Thursday we will start our unit on Geology.

Writing - This week we will be working on the 6+1 trait of VOICE. Students will look at the purpose and audience of a piece of writing and learn how to use voice in order to reach the audience appropriately. Students will be writing their own version of The Three Little Pigs using great voice.

Read Aloud - We are reading the Core Knowledge Novel Robinson Crusoe this week.

Updates coming!

I apologize for not being updated in the last few weeks. With recovering from surgery, I have had other things on my mind!

Tonight I will update for the rest of this week, and next so you are aware of what is going on.  Thanks for being so patient and know that you can always email me if you need any kind of information on what is going on in class!

Students will read their paragraphs to the class and see if their peers can guess what food they are talking about. If they used good descriptive language, it should be easy to figure out!
