This Week's Academics
MUR - This week we will be reading the story "Thank You M'am" by Langston Hughes. We will really be working on retelling the story this week. Along with the story we will work out of our Wordly Wise books which focus on vocabulary and also out of our Analytical Grammar books where we have already started working with nouns, proper nouns, adjectives, articles, and pronouns, and prepositions.
Spelling homework is due Friday.
MUM - This week we will start the week with a quiz on adding, subtracting and simplifying fractions. Then we will work on renaming mixed numbers/improper fractions, and fractions of a set for the remiander of the week.
History - We will continue to work on our Europe in the Middle Ages unit this week. We will read from chapter 14-18. The next quiz will be next Friday the 18th! Study Guide to come soon...
Writing - This week we are working on being descriptive writers by writing a paragraph about a favorite food using our five senses. Students will read their paragraphs to the class and see if their peers can guess what food they are talking about. If they used good descriptive language, it should be easy to figure out!
Read Aloud - We are reading the Core Knowledge Novel King Arthur this week. It ties in nicely to our history unit about Europe in the Middle Ages and students will see a lot of similarities between the two.
