October 25-November 1

What we are doing this week:
In MUR...
This week spelling homework will be assigned Monday and is due Friday.
In grammar, we will be reviewing helping verbs in grammar and also talk about verb forms.
We will be focusing on folktales this week. Students will learn what a folktale is and be able to distinguish between the different types of folktales including myths, legends, fairy tales, fables, and tall tales. Students will read a variety of folktales and then compare and contrast two of the stories.

In MUM...
Homework will be sent home Monday and due Friday. Please continue to work with your child on their basic facts at home.
This week we will continue working with multi-digit multiplication and move into long division.
We will also be taking the first interim assessment of the year. This assessment will cover all of the skills and concepts that we have worked on so far this year.

Even if your child works 5-10 minutes a night on facts they will be successful in class each day. Thank you for your continued support at home!

In History...
This week we will continue the Europe in the Middle ages unit reading chapters 11-21. Next week will be the second and final quiz for this unit and then students will switch back to science with Mrs. Slavik.

In Writing...
This week we will continue to work on word choice. Students will write bio-poems using million dollar words to describe themselves and will be given time to type their poems in the computer lab. We will have a publishing party to share and celebrate our final drafts of our poems.

Read Aloud...
Mrs. Puckett will continue to read the book Jackie and Me by Dan Gutman.
