November 11-15

This week is Mrs. Puckett's last week with us - we are sad to see her go, but hope she comes back to visit us throughout the year!

What we are doing this week:
In MUR...
This week there will be spelling homework assigned on Monday which is due Friday. Students will be working with the long -O pattern in accented syllables.

This week we will be reading The Mountain Pine Beetle, a non-fiction text and be reviewing the text features that we learned in the first month of school along with learning all about cause and effect, along with organization of text. At the end of the week we will be taking the first reading interim of the school year.

In MUM...
Homework will be sent home Monday and due Friday. Please continue to work with your child on their basic facts at home.
This week we are continuing to work on fractions. We have covered equivalent fractions and adding and subtracting fractions with like and unlike denominators so far. We will start working with mixed numbers and improper fractions this week.

Even if your child works 5-10 minutes a night on facts they will be successful in class each day. Thank you for your continued support at home!

In History...
This week Mrs. Slavik's class will be starting the Europe in the Middle Ages unit with me! My class will be heading over to Mrs. Slavik's class to start the geology unit in science.

In Writing...
This week we will be finishing our holiday essays and doing a little writing project for Mrs. Puckett. :)

Read Aloud...
Mrs. Puckett will finish Jackie and Me by Dan Gutman this week.
