November 18-22

The Book Fair begins this week! We will preview the fair on Tuesday afternoon and then stop by late in the week so that students have a chance to purchase what they saw at the preview.

Grandparents day is this Friday. We will have our OSA in the gym at 1:30, followed by activities in each classroom. We will be ending Grandparent's Day around 3:00 so that we can allow Grandparents to leave, and buses to come in to the parking lot. The Book Fair will be open during Grandparent's Day!

What we are doing this week:

In MUR...
No spelling homework this week.

This week we will be diving into our Mystery Unit where we will be reading a book called Mystery in the Rocky Mountains. We will be focusing on summarizing, main idea and supporting detail, and character development.

In MUM...
Homework will be sent home Monday and due Friday. Please continue to work with your child on their basic facts at home.

This week we are continuing to work on fractions. We have covered equivalent fractions, adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators, and mixed numbers. This week we will continue to work on those skills, but also will learn about improper fractions and how to convert between mixed and improper fractions.

Even if your child works 5-10 minutes a night on facts they will be successful in class each day. Thank you for your continued support at home!

In History...
This week Mrs. Slavik's class will continue to read about Europe in the Middle Ages. We will be reading chapters 4-8 this week.

In Writing...
This week we will be writing friendly letters.

Read Aloud...
This week we will start reading James and the Giant Peach, one of my favorite Roald Dahl books!
